The 2nd annual Urban Island Beach Party successfully wrapped up its increasingly popular one-day festival on Friday night. There was live art-making, hands-on fresh water animal education, water sport demonstrations, laser tag, a limbo contest, hula lessons, and a plethora of games for both adults and children.

The Beach Party also featured live music by The Exotics, Shoot Down the Moon, Ikarus Down, and AntioquiaHale O Malo provided Polynesian performances complete with fire dancing. Local businesses kept the crowd hydrated and satiated with gourmet food and drink. The line for the pig roast and fish fry remained over 50 people deep throughout the night.

ART Milwaukee, NEWaukee, Friends of Lakeshore State Park and Gathering Waters sponsored the event, which definitely helped to shine a little extra light on Lakeshore State Park.  Many people who had never been to the island before made the trek for the party, and the sponsors did a fantastic job of making it memorable for those who did.
