Cream City Soundcheck catches up with Milwaukee's indie pop heroes Maritime, where they talk music, families, careers and being able to juggle all of them at once.

Forming after the breakups of The Promise Ring and the Dismemberment Plan, Milwaukee’s Maritime made their debut in 2003 with the Adios EP. Over the course of the next decade, the band were able to overcome being more than just an  “indie rock supergroup,” carving out a niche as one of the premier indie pop acts in the midwest. The band signed to Dangerbird Records in 2010 (known for Silversun Pickups, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah), releasing the critically acclaimed Human Hearts in 2011.

Cream City Soundcheck chatted with the band at Turner Hall Ballroom, their practice space, and Leon’s Custard where they discussed the act of juggling the band, careers and families. View the video below.

On Thursday, Sept. 13, TCD, docUWM, Peck School of the Arts (celebrating its Year of the Arts) and the Pabst Group will host the Cream City Soundcheck Celebration at Turner Hall Ballroom. The event will feature live performances from RAS Movement (feat. Naima Adedapo), The Fatty Acids, and Kane Place Record Club. The evening also features screenings of videos with MaritimeYACHT, Paul CebarI’m Not A PilotMortgage FreemanHoly Shit!, and Kings Go Forth.
