On Stage 2/22-3/1 Riddle

What’s on your head and at Uihlein Hall?

By - Feb 22nd, 2011 04:00 am

Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair

Flow it, show it

Long as God can grow it

My hair!

They’re singing it again, tonight through Sunday (Feb. 22-27). The national touring company of the Tony-winning 2009 New York revival of Hair has landed at Marcus Center Uihlein Hall. Is the vintage rock musical hippie nostalgia or timeless art?

Think it over:

Theater

Another On Stage riddle: If a woman is unfulfilled in both her marriage and in her extramarital affair, should she (A) kill her husband; (B) kill her lover; (C) kill herself; or (D) all of the above?

I can’t tell you the answer, because I didn’t read Ron Clark and Sam Bobrick’s comedy, Murder at the Howard Johnson’s, all the way to the end. So you’ll have to attend In Tandem Theatre‘s production, which opens Friday (Feb. 25) and runs through March 13, to find out how Arlene, a 1970s Modern Woman, solves the problem. I will say, though, that characters who spend this much time in orange and aqua hotel rooms might find themselves longing for death

Jane Flieller directs Dylan Bolin, Darrel Cherney and Cat Yates in this production, which plays in the Tenth Street Theatre, on the lower level of Calvary Church, at 10th Street and Wisconsin Avenue.

Tickets are $25 or $2o, depending on the day and time of performance. Click here for a listing of show times, dates and prices, and to order online. Or call the In Tandem box office, 414 271-1371.

Patrick Sims, in his “10 Perfect: A Lynching Survivor’s Story,” coming to Cardinal Stritch University.

James Cameron, founder of the Black Holocaust Museum of Milwaukee, was the only person known to survive a racial lynching. Cameron’s feat and life inspired Patrick Sims to write and perform 10 Perfect, A Lynching Survivor’s Story. Sims, founding director of the Theatre for Cultural and Social Awareness at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an associate professor of acting, will perfrom his one-man play at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26 and 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, in Stritch’s the Nancy Kendall Theater at Cardinal Stritch University. A panel and Q&A will follow.

Admission is free, but pre-registration is required. To pre-register, e-mail events@stritch.edu or call (414) 410-4340. Pre-registrations are valid until 6:50 p.m. on Saturday and 4:50 p.m. on Sunday. At this time, empty seats will be available to patrons without tickets.
